December is typically HRCI’s busiest recertification period. In fact, more than 10,000 certificants had a certification cycle end date of December 31, 2006. While it typically takes approximately four weeks to review recertification applications, the processing time may be longer during peak periods.
- If your certification cycle ended December 2006, your application should have been submitted by December 31. If you submitted the application online, you received electronic notice that it was received. Due to volume, we are not able to acknowledge receipt of mailed applications. We recommend you use certified mail or another delivery service that verifies receipt.
- There is a one-month “grace period” before late fees apply. If your certification cycle ended in December and you have not yet submitted your application, you have until January 31, 2007 to do so without additional fees. Between February 1 and June 30, you may apply for recertification by paying a $25 late fee in addition to the regular $100 fee. The late fee for submissions between July 1 and December 31, 2007 incur a $50 late fee plus the regular fee. If you do not submit an application within these 12 months, your certification will expire. Please be reminded that while you have until the end of December 2007 to submit your application, all activities must have occurred during your three-year recertification period and no later than December 31, 2006.
- Due to volume, we may need six to eight weeks to review your application. During the application review process, HRCI may contact you for additional information or clarification on the submitted activities. You will be given a deadline by which a response is due. Failure to meet this deadline may result in the application not being approved.
- After the review process, you will be notified whether your application has been approved. If it is, you will receive a new certificate with the notice.
- If you are not notified within two months of sending your application, please e-mail or call us to inquire about its status.
If Your Cycle Ends in 2007 or Beyond
Submit your recertification application early to avoid any processing delays! You may submit your application as soon as you’ve accumulated your required 60 credit hours. Use “My Recert File” at HRCI.org to prepare your application as you earn hours.
